Tesla Inc. recently laid off employees, including its "growth content" marketing team in the U.S., as part of wider job cuts across the company.
This decision moves away from an advertising project started by CEO Elon Musk less than a year ago, showing a significant shift from traditional advertising. Around 40 employees in the U.S. were let go, including senior manager Alex Ingram. Although a smaller marketing team remains in Europe, the cuts also affected Tesla's design studio and employees in Hawthorne, California.
These layoffs occur as Tesla explores advertising for the first time and deals with challenges in the electric vehicle market and advertising revenue concerns on the social-media platform X, previously known as Twitter, which Musk also owns.
This restructuring is Tesla's biggest round of layoffs, potentially impacting over 20,000 employees, underscoring the major changes the company is making.
