Mastercard and Amazon Payment Services have entered a multi-year partnership to enhance digital payment acceptance in the Middle East and Africa, covering countries like Bahrain, Egypt, UAE, and South Africa. The collaboration will integrate Mastercard Gateway, facilitating seamless, secure transactions for merchants across 40 markets. This initiative aims to benefit thousands of Amazon Payment Services merchants, including Amazon's online stores in the UAE and Egypt, and will help telcos and governments improve their checkout options.
According to Mastercard's industry insights, 95% of consumers in the region are considering emerging payment methods, with 61% avoiding businesses that don't accept electronic payments. The partnership also focuses on innovative solutions like Secure Card on File, Click to Pay, and token authentication services to enhance checkout experiences.
