May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and this year, brands and nonprofits are amplifying their efforts to address the global mental health crisis, especially among young people. With one in two people expected to develop a mental health disorder in their lifetime, conversations and funding for professional mental health care, including therapy, are being prioritized.
Initiatives include Britain's Channel 4 and Frontline19's campaign for healthcare workers, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios' Mental Health Action Day promoting social connection, and McDonald's U.K.'s Happy Meal box redesign to help children express their emotions. Additionally, Maybelline New York partnered with the WHO Foundation to provide mental health services to 2 million people, and Calm launched a free mental health screening tool.
The Child Mind Institute's new campaign features athletes promoting mental health fitness to kids. These efforts highlight the ongoing commitment to improving mental health awareness and support globally.
