Figma CEO Dylan Field announced the temporary disablement of the “Make Design” AI feature following accusations that it heavily trained on existing apps, particularly mimicking Apple’s Weather app. The issue was highlighted by Andy Allen of NotBoring Software, who found that Figma’s tool repeatedly reproduced Apple’s Weather app design. While Field denies the accusations of data training on existing apps, he acknowledged the need for better quality assurance.
The feature, aimed at generating UI layouts from text prompts to expedite the design process, will remain disabled until a full QA pass is completed.
