YouTube has rolled out a range of new features for its mobile, web, and TV applications, enhancing user experience with added controls and functionalities. A significant update includes more precise playback speed control, now adjustable by increments of 0.05x. Collaborative playlists have been improved, allowing users to share access via links or QR codes, customize thumbnails, and soon, vote on videos within playlists. The mobile app sees design refinements, such as larger thumbnails and more responsive controls in landscape mode, initially available on Android and later on iOS. The mini-player is now movable and resizable during browsing sessions.
TV app enhancements offer immersive previews and a better interface for YouTube Shorts. YouTube's sleep timer feature, previously tested for paid users, is now accessible to all, pausing playback after a set time. Additionally, badges are introduced on YouTube and YouTube Music apps, enabling creators to engage with audiences more effectively, with badges like “first batch of paid members” and “correctly completed a quiz” available in the Communities space.
