Apple has significantly cut its 2024 sales forecasts for the Vision Pro, slashing expectations to less than half of what was initially anticipated, reveals analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Following a high-profile launch, the Vision Pro's initial sales momentum has drastically slowed, prompting Apple to adjust its sales strategy and reduce orders, especially in anticipation of weaker demand in non-US markets.
This adjustment comes after a striking reduction in US market demand, with Apple now expecting to ship between 400,000 to 450,000 units in 2024, a stark contrast to the market's expectation of 700,000 to 800,000 units. Despite selling 200,000 units in the first 10 days post-launch, sales have since decelerated, and the total units sold by the end of the year are projected to only slightly increase.
Looking ahead, Apple anticipates a further decline in shipments for 2025 and may delay the launch of any new versions until after 2025. This downturn has been attributed to the headset's high cost, discomfort in wearability, and lack of essential applications, challenging Apple's vision of making mixed reality headsets mainstream.
