Survey reveals consumer mistrust and desire for data privacy reform

A PrivacyEngine study highlights significant consumer mistrust in corporate data handling, with 60% of participants believing their data is routinely misused. The global survey, which included over 1.3 million respondents, found that 42.7% prioritize avoiding data breaches, while 22.6% emphasize strong passwords for security. It also revealed that those aged 65+ are most concerned about data privacy, with the majority of respondents being US-based.

Additionally, 46% of consumers feel they've lost control over their data, and 87% demand more transparency. These insights stress the importance of robust data security measures and transparency to build consumer trust.
