Nordstrom Inc. has initiated a significant digital expansion through the launch of a new marketplace platform on its website and app. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing its online product range while simultaneously increasing the company's revenues and offering sellers access to a broader audience.
With digital sales comprising 36 percent of Nordstrom's total $14.22 billion sales last year, the digital marketplace represents a pivotal growth area for the retailer. Although the company plans to gradually introduce new brands, executives are optimistic about tripling their online assortment in the coming years, ensuring the marketplace remains curated, customer-focused, and dedicated to service excellence.
The digital marketplace officially went live on Monday, marking a new era of online retail for Nordstrom.
