Maven: a new social network promises a healthier digital experience

Mental health experts and regulators have raised concerns about the negative impact of social media on mental well-being. Addressing this, a new social network called Maven aims to offer a healthier alternative. Unlike traditional platforms, Maven eschews likes and follows, relying instead on chance to determine feed content.

Founded by Kenneth Stanley, Jimmy Secretan, and Blas Moros, and backed by notable investors including Twitter cofounder Ev Williams and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Maven focuses on open-endedness—a concept pioneered by Stanley. This approach encourages serendipity and novel discoveries rather than optimizing for specific objectives.

On Maven, users follow interests rather than individuals, reducing the pressure to gain followers. Algorithms analyze and tag posts to display them to relevant audiences. The platform’s feed is curated based on engagement and relevance to users' interests. Available on Apple and Android devices, Maven offers a unique social experience designed to foster healthier online interactions.
